Food for the Senses

A playful sensory garden that delights taste, smell, and sight through vibrant planting, whimsical structures, and immersive spaces paired with a community kitchen. Designed for all ages, it offers an engaging journey of discovery and connection, blending edible plants, fragrant herbs, and visual beauty into a harmonious environment that inspires curiosity and interaction.
The Senses
The planting palette and materials were chosen to stimulate the senses of taste, smell, and sight. Vibrant flowers, fragrant herbs, and edible plants create an engaging sensory experience, while natural materials like stone and wood ground the design in tactile and visual harmony.

The Design
The plans reveals a well-defined circulation system with primary, secondary, and private paths. Key areas such as lounges, kitchens, and private sitting spaces are strategically placed to encourage interaction and contemplation.

Exploring Organizational Strategies
The design process began with a playful exploration of spatial organization, using iterative methods to generate dynamic layouts. Initial iterations experimented with grid-based arrangements, creating modules that established primary and secondary circulation paths. These modules were then multiplied, rotated, and reconfigured, introducing complexity and movement into the plan.

Through subtraction and adjustment, gaps and overlaps emerged, offering opportunities to define spaces for various functions. This exercise emphasized flexibility, enabling a balance between structured organization and organic flow.
Site Analysis
Although the project does not have a real-world site, a conceptual foundation was established by imagining a versatile and engaging location. The hypothetical site is designed to accommodate diverse sensory experiences while considering circulation, materiality, and interaction with natural elements.
